Word of Promise Next Generation New Testament

This time I decided to get something that my daughter and I could share together. The Word of Promise Next Generation – New Testament Dramatized Audio Bible is a Hollywood cast acting out the new testament. Click here to see the description at Thomas Nelson.

It’s an all star cast, reading/dramatizing the bible in such a way that kids, tweens, and teens can appreciate the word of God in a way they can relate to it. Max and Jenna Lucado do a great job of introducing the different books of the new testament, giving you an overview of what the book is about, the history behind it, all the information that even as adults we tend to gloss over when studying our bibles.

The version I reviewed was the MP3 discs, which allowed me to easily import it into my iTunes and then sync it with my iPod and listen to it whenever and wherever. In addition, included in the liner notes was a reading plan for the entire new testament in 40 days. While I haven’t done that yet, it is my hope to do that with my daughter over the summer.

The quality was outstanding. The music and sound effects that play behind the actors is not distracting, it seems to help in guiding the tempo and setting the pace for what you are listening to. The actors are names that kids will recognize and respect, also making it more appealing for them. Since so many of the kids today are technologically savvy, I know it’s hard as a parent to keep them interested in something for any period of time. This however I think will engage them, bring Gods message to life and allow parents to share a devotional time with their kids.
