Our New Adoption “Macy”

Just before Christmas we had to have another cat put down, this time due to feline aids. She was a stray that my daughter fell in love with, the first pet she adopted herself, and was taking responsibility for.

After she got the news, she immediately wanted to adopt another cat. We found one at the vet that had been a rescue, and picked her up just after Christmas. Amy wrote the following story to send to agency that originally rescued “Macy”. I just had to share it with everyone. This was completely her idea, totally unprompted by either of us, and straight from her heart.

Our New Adoption “Macy” by Amy Becker, 9 years old

Our new cat Macy is a rescue from the Sterile Feral. All of our pets have been rescues so far.

The reason why we got Macy is because our old cat, which was a stray, died. Her name was Misty. We took her to the vet and they said she had feline aids, a missing tooth, and she was pregnant. We had to put her to sleep. So we looked at some other cats, right after we heard the news. And we picked Macy.

Our other pet, Lily, is a rescue from the side of the road. She is a black and white Border Collie mix and is a playful fun loving dog, but she is not from any rescue shelter.

Macy is a long-haired gray and white mix of some kind. She loves getting her tummy rubbed, she likes chasing a little red light cat toy, and loves catnip.

Macy is about 1 year old and is in love with sleeping. She can handle being picked up, sleeping in your bed with you at night (provided your bed is soft) and will wake you up at 5:45 in the morning.

We love what the Sterile Feral does for these animals, thank you to all the rescue shelters and what people are doing to help these animals.
