2011 One Word Wrap Up

So I’m a little late in getting this out there… not exactly a stellar example of my word for 2011.

But discipline turned out to be fitting for the year. It started out with me wanting to write every day and trying to get in to the habit of doing that wasn’t easy. But I did. And then it turned into something more.

In May I started working with a trainer and being more diligent (and disciplined) about what I ate. The result, 19 pounds lost (a couple gained back over the holiday or maybe it’s turned to muscle now which they say weighs more than fat). Clothing sizes down by 4 sizes (or 8 depending on how you count), inches lost – I don’t know because the one thing I neglected to do was measure myself before I started. But the fact that I’ve basically had to replace my wardrobe is enough to tell me it’s paid off. And it’s continued in to the new year, not a resolution but definitely a life style change.

Then November came along and I decided to participate in NaNoWriMo. 30 days = 50,000 words. Day 1 started out with a bang, 3000+ words. From then until the end of November a lot was neglected (that layer of dust was well, it was thick :-) ) and there were days when I struggled to meet my daily goal of 1,667 words. But in the end discipline paid off again and I came in with over 50,000 words. There is still more to be written and editing to be done before it will ever see the light of day or anyone else’s eyes besides mine.

And in other areas as well, it has weaved it’s way through  my life. What started out as a tough and scary word to wrap my head around became a new way of life for me.

What does 2012 hold? I’m not sure yet. It’s a new year, a new season, and the unknown on the horizon.
