Most people who know me, know that I am a planner. While there are spontaneous times, most things I do I like to plan, organize and know in advance what’s going to happen.
Well that’s all changed now. Well not all changed, but we are embarking on a great adventure. It does require some research, planning, and forethought, but a lot is still up in the air too.
If you have been reading Brain Drops for any time (or following me on Twitter or facebook) you know that we have sold our house. If you haven’t been reading before now, now you are caught up too. 🙂 But the one thing about it is, we honestly do not know where we are going next. We know that our closing date is May 31, 2010 and that we will have all of our belongings in storage by then. But as Dean put it the other night “we will be homeless and jobless” come June 1. (Side note – we do have savings, we do have a business albeit slow right now, and we do have a place to stay (my parents) at least for a little while.)
So what is our first step you ask? Well we travel. We start by going to Tennessee. We look at schools, we look at housing, and we look at the job market. Then we come back and start packing. Hey we still have 6 weeks, so at least there is some time to get that done. Unlike our move to Georgia where we had to do it in a week. I will post that story soon. It was definitely favor that moved us here and brought us to where we are now.
Then in June we head to California. Yes, it’s the other side of the country. Yes, I did say some years ago that I would never move there. I now have learned to not say “never”. There are a lot of unknowns with California and the Los Angeles area. But there are also a lot of opportunities for us to pursue what we are truly passionate about. Not to mention the opportunities for Amy to explore her creative side more too.
After those two trips, there may be a trip to New York (city) as well. That is still undecided at this point. And, who knows, there may be other cities we decide to visit between now and then too. Right now our options are open.
So as you can see, this is just the beginning of our great adventure. And I’m guessing the beginning of some pretty interesting blog posts too.
